A recycling route that also works for the neighbors.
BARC works with local nonprofits and businesses across Northern Michigan. When you recycle through BARC, it not only helps the environment, but also supports the community, and that's good for everyone.
No other organization focuses exclusively on recycling hard to dispose of materials, supplying compostables to local businesses and hosting zero waste events.

$20,000+
every year
BARC gives more than $20,000 every year in goods and services to other local nonprofits, including compostables, waste services and fundraising event support. The About page puts the average at over $25,000, and the charitable giving page reports more than $23,500 in the last year.
More on how BARC gives is on the charitable giving page. The event side is the zero waste events service, the same one behind the Traverse City Film Fest and the Bay Shore Marathon.
