BARC supplies affordable Compostable serviceware to local businesses: the disposable serviceware a food business or event hands out and then has to figure out how to dispose of. Switching to compostable means what your customers leave behind can go in a compost stream instead of the trash.

BARC is a Traverse City non-profit, and supplying compostables to local businesses is one of the three things we focus on exclusively, alongside recycling hard to dispose of materials and hosting zero waste events.

Where it ends up

At events, BARC sorts compostables from bottles, cans and trash on site, which is what the green compost bin in the photo is for. If you are planning a festival, a reunion or a fundraiser, that sorting is part of our Zero Waste Events service.

If you want BARC to take your business's compostable waste on a recurring basis, business composting is currently at capacity and there is a waitlist. Put your name on it now and you are in line when space opens.
